The first step in becoming a Greenspot charging host is for us to evaluate your site, confirming whether it is a good fit for our EV charging network. Some of the characteristics we consider include location, number of parking spaces, accessibility, visibility, nearby amenities, and more.
Our End-to-End Process
Site Evaluation
Contracting and Initial Design
Once we’ve determined that your site checks the boxes for an ideal EV charging location, we propose a competitive share of our revenue for hosting our chargers at your site, along with terms for incorporating into a formal legal agreement. Once an agreement is established, we engage our engineers to determine the placement of equipment and the likely point of interconnection for power. Through this process, we collaborate with the site host to identify the number of charging points that best fit the property and agree on a concept site plan.
Engineering, Utility, and Permitting
Once the location on the property and power source is confirmed, we finalize the EV charging site design with our engineering, procurement, and construction provider. In doing so, we’ll take care of all local permitting requirements to ensure the site plans are approved by local governing entities and coordinate the source of power with the local utility provider. By using a network developer like Greenspot to complete this process, you already have built-in support and expertise when it comes to moving the project forward.
Construction and Installation
Once permits are approved, our team will coordinate with the site host to arrange for access, site security, and appropriate lay-down areas for equipment, as necessary. Soon thereafter the construction and installation process begins. This process can include upgrading the electrical system or installing additional transformers to accommodate the electrical load. While the utility upgrade is built out, the charger installation process can also begin. If you choose to work with Greenspot, the upfront installation and the charger costs are covered by us. With experience managing large scale electrification projects, our team prioritizes the highest safety standards during this process, while ensuring as minimal impact to your property as possible.
Testing and Go-Live
Once construction is complete and passes inspection, our team will handle robust end-to-end testing to ensure your site meets all safety and related requirements before going live. The chargers at your location are then officially added to our network of public charging stations, so drivers can find and use them. Once your site is part of the network, this also means we can monitor the chargers in real-time to spot any potential issues and maintain a high level of uptime.
Promotion and Ongoing Operations
Once the site is live and ready for EV drivers to visit, we promote the EV charging site to help attract new customers. If the location is set up to be public, this will drive new traffic to your property. The promotion includes adding the location to our map, app services, as well as a number of different online platforms that drivers utilize. As the site continues operations, Greenspot as your operator will provide all ongoing operations and maintenance support on the chargers, with 24/7 support available for drivers that need it. We also monitor utilization to make informed decisions about expanding marketing and site upgrades. Compared to owning and installing EV chargers yourself, this means you and your staff don’t need to worry about driving utilization or managing any potential charger issues yourselves.

Why do I need EV charging stations for my property?
Nearly every major car company has announced certain dates when they’re going to stop developing internal combustion engines. Most will do so between 2030 and 2040. Properties that do not offer electric vehicle charging will be increasingly disadvantaged as the EV population increases. Electric vehicle charging is no longer an amenity, it is a necessity. In addition, the revenue generated from the charging stations can be accretive to the property NOI.
-
How long does it take to install the chargers?
Installations generally only take 3 to 8 days but can vary depending on the level of additional infrastructure needed to be added to the property. The majority of time is spent in permitting and grant processes specific to each municipality, resulting in most installations occurring within 3-6 months post-agreement.
-
What types of chargers do you install?
Greenspot installs the fastest Level 2 chargers available on the market that can provide a full charge in 2-6 hours. If it’s the right type of property, Greenspot installs even faster DCFC Level 3 . Greenspot undergoes a comprehensive site audit at each property to determine the appropriate equipment.
-
How do you decide how many chargers are needed?
Greenspot determines an initial number of chargers to satisfy demand today, through property-specific demand modeling. Also, Greenspot will build out additional electrical infrastructure to easily add chargers later to satisfy demand over a 10 year period.
-
Do you only install in existing properties?
No, Greenspot works with property owners to EV-enable upcoming, in development or current builds.
-
How do customers use the chargers?
Customers can use the chargers by downloading our app or QR code found on the charger itself. For customers charging more frequently, we recommend downloading the app for quicker checkout and to receive the perks within our loyalty program. RFID tags are also available for valet services or more closely monitored parking.
